Movies Coming Out This Week!

Speed Racer, based on the 1960's animated series, will be released on May 9th.  It is also going to be released in selected IMAX theatres on the same day.    Speed Racer is rated PG, and stars Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, Mathew Fox, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman.  Speed Racer Coming to Theatres May 9

Here is a description of Speed Racer, released by Warner Brothers:

Hurtling down the track, careening around, over and through the competition, Speed Racer is a natural behind the wheel. Born to race cars, Speed is aggressive, instinctive and, most of all, fearless. His only real competition is the memory of the brother he idolized-the legendary Rex Racer - whose death in a race has left behind a legacy that Speed is driven to fulfill. Speed is loyal to the family racing business, led by his father, Pops Racer, the designer of Speed's thundering Mach 5. When Speed turns down a lucrative and tempting offer from Royalton Industries, he not only infuriates the company's maniacal owner but uncovers a terrible secret-some of the biggest races are being fixed by a handful of ruthless moguls who manipulate the top drivers to boost profits. If Speed won't drive for Royalton, Royalton will see to it that the Mach 5 never crosses another finish line. The only way for Speed to save his family's business and the sport he loves is to beat Royalton at his own game. With the support of his family and his loyal girlfriend, Trixie, Speed teams with his one-time rival-the mysterious Racer X - to win the race that had taken his brother's life: the death-defying, cross-country rally known as The Crucible.

Movies, movies, movies!

First off, to start, we went and watched the movie Nim's Island on Sunday and found it pretty good, so, here's a group review for that one:

Nim's Island
 RATING:
PG
 MOVIE LENGTH:
1 hour 36 minutes
 DESCRIPTION-
Nim's mother was eaten by a whale and her father's a Marine Biologist looking for plankton. When he becomes lost at sea, Nim has to save her island from tourists and other things - with the help of a book character who she has been emailing with.
FAVORITE PART-  Any part with Alex Rover in it! He was funny.
DISLIKED- It was a bit slow at times and not a movie for 7 and younger.
WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT FOR KIDS YOUR AGE?  Maybe
 RATING-

We decided that the kids age 8 and older might grasp the concept of the movie more. When we went to see it, all the younger kids got out of their seats in the middle of the movie, obviously bored.

Also,
College Road Trip will be coming to DVD and Blu-Ray on July 15. This movie stars Raven Symone and Martin Lawrence. The release includes deleted scenes, a gag reel, Raven's Video Diary, a music video, and a behind-the-scnes look at making the music video.
